Pritchard Design created a striking visual interpretation of the film “Invisible Light” for a promotional poster. The movie, about a teenager who becomes paralyzed when he hits his head in a pool, was created in a partnership between Big Picture Alliance and Dobbins High School, and is being screened at the New Freedom Theatre, another of Pritchard Design’s clients.

The design needed to be visually exciting to hold the interest of younger viewers, who are constantly bombarded with messages and images every day, and to compel them to want to see the film. Pritchard Design chose specific parts of provided images to form a photo collage illustration that forces viewers to confront the deeply frightening experience of the main character by tightening the focus on his eyes and face. This technique, coupled with a gritty, off-balance type treatment, portrays the disturbing nature of the problems grappled with by the young man. The muted color scheme speaks to the serious nature of the subject matter, while the colors themselves are part of an analogous palette that appeals to today’s youth.
